...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING...

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

* WHERE...Portions of eastern Iowa, northwest Illinois, and
  northeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Through Saturday evening.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
  creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
  Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur
  in poor drainage and urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - Occasional rounds of scattered showers and thunderstorms are
    expected today through Saturday. Very high rainfall rates
    near 2 inches per hour are possible with the strongest
    storms, which could lead to flash flooding. Areas most
    susceptible to flooding will be urban and poor drainage
    locations. Total rainfall amounts will vary considerably
    across the outlook area due to the scattered nature of the
    storms. However, locations that get hit by repeated rounds of
    storms could receive as much as 2 to 4 inches of rainfall.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
to take action should flooding develop.
