...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of northeast New Jersey, including the following 
  counties, Bergen and Hudson and southeast New York, including the 
  following counties, Bronx and New York (Manhattan).

* WHEN...Until 800 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. 

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 546 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. Overflowing poor drainage areas will cause
    minor flooding in the advisory area. Between 0.2 and 0.5
    inches of rain have fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.2 to 0.5 inches are expected
    over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
    flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Mott Haven, East Tremont, Lyndhurst, Rutherford, Secaucus,
    Harrison, Ridgefield, RFK Bridge, Harlem, Union City,
    Riverdale, Co-op City, Kearny, Fort Lee, City Island,
    Teterboro, Upper West Side, North Bergen, West New York and
    Cliffside Park.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

The Flood Advisory is cancelled for portions of northeast New 
Jersey, including the following areas, Bergen and Hudson and 
southeast New York, including the following areas, Bronx and New 
York (Manhattan).

The heavy rain has ended. Flooding is no longer expected to pose a 
threat. Please continue to heed remaining road closures.

Another line of showers and thunderstorms to the west will move 
through within the next hour or so. These could prompt another Flood 
Advisory or if heavy enough, a Flash Flood Warning.
