...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of southwest Maine, including the following
  counties, Cumberland and York.

* WHEN...Until 700 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 105 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
    indicated heavy rain. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected
    to begin shortly in the advisory area. Up to 1.5 inches of
    rain have fallen.
  - Slow moving rain will continue through mid afternoon with
    periods of heavier rain rates. With saturated soil, periods
    of heavier rain can quickly cause rapid runoff or minor
    flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Naples, Hollis, Hiram, Effingham, Cornish, Waterboro,
    Standish, Limington, Limerick and Acton.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.
