...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 AM CDT SUNDAY...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...A portion of northwest Kansas, including the following
counties, Decatur, Rawlins, Sheridan and Thomas.
* WHEN...Until 200 AM CDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1059 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 4.5 inches of
rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are expected over
the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Oberlin, Atwood, Rexford, Selden, McDonald, Norcatur,
Herndon, Jennings, Gem, Ludell, Clayton, Dresden, Traer,
Leoville, Blakeman, Cedar Bluffs, Kanona and Beardsley.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
