...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 815 PM EDT THIS EVENING...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...A portion of eastern North Carolina, including the
following counties, Beaufort, Hyde, Martin and Washington.
* WHEN...Until 815 PM EDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Water over roadways.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 510 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain
have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Belhaven, Ponzer, Pungo, Pike Road, Wenona, Leechville,
Hinson, Terra Ceia, Yeatesville, Pungo Lake, Long Acre VFD
and Pantego.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

The Flood Advisory is cancelled for a portion of eastern North
Carolina, including the following areas, Beaufort, Hyde, Martin and
Washington.
Flood waters have receded. The heavy rain has ended. Flooding is no
longer expected to pose a threat. Please continue to heed remaining
road closures.
