...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 430 PM MDT THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Arroyo and small stream flooding caused by excessive 
  rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of southeast Utah, including the following 
  county, San Juan.

* WHEN...Until 430 PM MDT.

* IMPACTS...Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos. Slot 
  canyons and steep, dry washes can become raging currents in a 
  matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall. Do not attempt 
  hiking or canyoneering.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 234 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. This will cause arroyo and small stream
    flooding. Between 0.5 and 1.2 inches of rain have fallen.
  - Much of the drainages in and near Canyonlands National Park
    and Dead Horse State Park are the most likely place to
    experience minor flooding.
    Additional rainfall amounts of 0.4 to 0.8 inches are expected
    over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
    flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Canyonlands National Park and Dead Horse Point State Park.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

The Flood Advisory will expire at 430 PM MDT this afternoon for a 
portion of southeast Utah, including the following area, San Juan.

Flood waters have receded...and are no longer expected to pose a 
threat to life or property. Please continue to heed any road 
closures. Excess runoff from heavy rain has ended over the warned 
area. If flooding has been observed...Please report it to your local 
law enforcement agency. Arroyo and small stream flooding is no 
longer expected to pose a threat. Please continue to heed remaining 
road closures.
