...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of southeast Virginia, including the following 
  independent cities, City of Chesapeake, City of Norfolk, City of 
  Portsmouth and City of Virginia Beach.

* WHEN...Until 700 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. 

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 453 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
    shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of
    rain have fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are expected
    over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
    flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Virginia Beach, Norfolk State University, Downtown Norfolk,
    Downtown Portsmouth, Old Dominion University, Virginia
    Wesleyan University, Ocean View, Regent University,
    Kempsville, Churchland, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth,
    Suffolk, Ghent, Norview, Norfolk NAS, Norfolk International,
    Cradock and Wards Corner.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.
