...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 AM EDT WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive 
  rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of central Virginia, including the following 
  counties and independent city, City of Richmond, Hanover and 
  Henrico.

* WHEN...Until 300 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. 

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 1157 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. This will
    cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 0.5 and 1 inch
    of rain has fallen since 1030 PM.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are expected
    over the area through 130 AM.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Richmond, Ashland, Virginia Union University, Virginia
    Commonwealth University, Downtown Richmond, Mechanicsville,
    University Of Richmond, Randolph Macon College, Tuckahoe,
    Highland Springs, Bon Air, Hanover, Lakeside, Glen Allen,
    Laurel, East Highland Park, Wyndham, Bensley, Solomons Store
    and Longdale.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding. Do not stay in areas subject to flooding when 
water begins rising.
