...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON PST TODAY...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of southwest California, including the western 
  and central portions of the Antelope Valley and adjacent foothills.

* WHEN...Until noon PST.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.   
  Water over roadways.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 708 AM PST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
    indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is
    ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area.
    Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Acton, Lancaster, Palmdale, Quartz Hill, Elizabeth Lake, Lake
    Hughes, Lake Palmdale, Desert View Highlands and Highway 138
    between Quail Lake and Lancaster.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. In 
addition, Be aware of rock slides and mudslides near hilly and or 
mountainous terrain.
