...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 545 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...A portion of southeast Kentucky, including the following
counties, Leslie, Letcher and Perry.
* WHEN...Until 545 PM EDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 346 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen.
Minor flooding of small streams and creeks, roads, and
roadside culverts is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in
the advisory area.
- Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over
the area.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Daisy, Cornettsville, Slemp, Ulvah, Bluefield, Hallie, Red
Star, Banks, Arminta and Yeaddiss.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

- At 418 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated that the heaviest
rainfall had ended across the advisory area; however,
excessive runoff from previous heavy rainfall of 1 to 2
inches will continue to cause minor flooding of small streams
and creeks, roads, and roadside culverts.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Daisy, Cornettsville, Ulvah, Slemp, Bluefield, Hallie, Red
Star, Banks and Arminta.
