The National Weather Service in Burlington has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
East Central Essex County in northern New York...
* Until 1045 PM EDT.
* At 738 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 2 inches of
rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Elizabethtown, Moriah, Lewis, Westport, Keene, North Hudson, New
Russia and Underwood.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1045 PM EDT THIS
EVENING FOR EAST CENTRAL ESSEX COUNTY...
At 912 PM EDT, local law enforcement reported flooding near Lincoln
Pond Campground in Elizabethtown. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain
have fallen across the warning area this evening. Although the
heaviest rainfall has ended, additional flooding could still be
occurring.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Law enforcement reported.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
