The National Weather Service in San Francisco has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Northern San Mateo County in northern California...

* Until 515 AM PST.

* At 201 AM PST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the warned
  area. Up to 0.7 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is
  ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing
           flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
           urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  San Mateo, Redwood City, Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Foster City,
  Burlingame, San Carlos, East Palo Alto, Belmont, Millbrae,
  Hillsborough, Atherton, Woodside, Highlands-Baywood Park, North
  Fair Oaks, Stanford, Portola Valley, Emerald Lake Hills, Highlands
  and West Menlo Park.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
