* Until 245 PM CDT.
* At 1143 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to 2
inches of rain have fallen thus far, with heavy rainfall still
ongoing in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding.

IMPACT...Rapid-onset flooding of creeks, streams, drainage
ditches, streets, underpasses, low-lying areas, and
other poor drainage areas.

AFTERNOON FOR EAST CENTRAL COOK AND SOUTHEASTERN DUPAGE COUNTIES...
At 1223 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1
and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen thus far, with heavy rainfall
still ongoing in the warned area. Flash flooding is occurring, and
reports have been received of totally submerged viaducts and
underpasses in the city of Chicago.
HAZARD...Significant flash flooding.
SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.
IMPACT...Rapid-onset, significant flooding of creeks, streams,
drainage ditches, low-lying areas, and poor drainage
areas. Widespread street and underpass flooding.
Possible flooding of structures. Possible flooding of
highways.

At 109 PM CDT, local law enforcement reported flash flooding ongoing
from heavy rainfall. Between 2 and 5 inches of rain have fallen.
Several roads and interstates have been flooded, and viaducts and
underpasses have been submerged underwater as well.
HAZARD...Significant flash flooding.
SOURCE...Law enforcement.
IMPACT...Rapid-onset, significant flooding of creeks, streams,
drainage ditches, low-lying areas, and poor drainage
areas. Widespread street and underpass flooding.

EAST CENTRAL COOK AND SOUTHEASTERN DUPAGE COUNTIES...
The heavy rain has ended. While the most significant flooding has
ended, lingering areas of flooding remain, and an areal Flood
Warning has been issued to replace this Flash Flood Warning. This
Flood Warning is in effect until 530 PM CDT. Please continue to heed
remaining road closures.
A Flood Watch also remains in effect until 600 PM CDT for portions
of northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana.
