The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  North Central Colfax County in northeastern New Mexico...

* Until 830 PM MDT.

* At 525 PM MDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
  thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between
  1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen in the past hour. Additional
  rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area.
  Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
           highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
           drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Raton.

This includes the following highways...
Highway 64 between Mile Markers 350 and 351. Interstate 25 between
Mile Markers 450 and 456.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of normally
dry arroyos and streambeds, low water crossings, intersections and
underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low lying areas.

Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

EVENING FOR NORTH CENTRAL COLFAX COUNTY...

At 629 PM MDT, At 630 PM MDT..Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area
were ending. Between 1.5 and 2.75 inches of rain have fallen.
Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.1 inches are possible in the
warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
