The National Weather Service in Columbia has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Northwestern Lexington County in central South Carolina...
  Southwestern Newberry County in central South Carolina...
  Saluda County in central South Carolina...

* Until 730 PM EDT.

* At 430 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
  thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between
  2.5 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is
  0.5 to 1.5 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2
  inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing
  or expected to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
           highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
           drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Batesburg-Leesville, Saluda, Dreher Island State Park, Gilbert,
  Summit, Hollywood Elementary School, Wyses Ferry, Circle Fire
  Station, Delmar, Riverbend Boat Ramp, Emory, Saluda High School,
  Hickory Grove, Saluda Co Sheriffs Office, Scurry Airport, Lake
  Murray Shores, Cedar Grove Fire Station, Fairview Fire Station,
  South Shore Marina and Fredonia.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Most flooding deaths occur in vehicles. Never drive through a flooded
roadway or around barricades. Turn around, dont drown.
