Flash Flood Warning
National Weather Service Grand Junction CO
206 PM MDT Thu Sep 11 2025

The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  The Stoner Mesa burn scar in...
  Central Dolores County in southwestern Colorado...
  Northeastern Montezuma County in southwestern Colorado...

* Until 500 PM MDT.

* At 206 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
  heavy rain over the Stoner Mesa Burn Scar. The expected rainfall
  rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Flash flooding is expected to
  begin shortly.

Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will result in debris flow
moving through the Stoner Mesa Burn Scar. The debris flow can
consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials.

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
           producing flash flooding and debris flows in and
           around the Stoner Mesa Burn Scar.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Dangerous flash flooding and debris flows are possible
           in and downstream the Stoner Mesa Burn Scar.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Stoner Creek Drainage, the town of Stoner and CO Hwy 145

This includes the following streams and drainages...
  Stoner Creek to the Dolores River

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

This is a dangerous situation. Heavy rainfall will cause extensive
flash flooding of creeks...streams...and ditches in the Stoner Mesa
Burn Scar. Debris flows can also be anticipated across roads. Roads
and driveways may be washed away in places. If you encounter flood
waters...climb to safety.

Move away from recently burned areas. Life-threatening flooding of
creeks, roads and normally dry arroyos is likely. The heavy rains
will likely trigger rockslides, mudslides and debris flows in steep
terrain, especially in and around these areas.
