The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Western Cumberland County in east central Illinois...
  Northern Effingham County in south central Illinois...

* Until 700 PM CDT.

* At 405 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 
  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain 
  have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are 
  possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected 
  to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Effingham, Neoga, Altamont, Teutopolis, Montrose and Effingham 
  County Airport.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 70 between  mile markers 79 and 107.
 Interstate 57 between  mile markers 155 and 168...and
between  mile markers 172 and 180.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have 
fallen. Flooding impacts will continue, but little or no additional 
rainfall is expected. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin 
shortly.

WESTERN CUMBERLAND AND NORTHERN EFFINGHAM COUNTIES...

Flood waters have started to recede. The heavy rain has ended. 
Flooding is no longer expected to pose a threat. Please continue to 
heed remaining road closures.

A Flood Watch remains in effect until 100 AM CDT Monday for portions 
of central, east central, southeast, and west central Illinois.
