The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Northwestern Bergen County in northeastern New Jersey...
Central Passaic County in northeastern New Jersey...
Western Rockland County in southeastern New York...
* Until 330 AM EDT.
* At 1225 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.5 and 1.25 inches of
rain has already fallen in parts of western Passaic County. The
expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2.5 inches in 1 hour. Total rainfall
amounts of 1 to 2.5 inches is possible in the warned area. Flash
flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.

Monsey, Ramsey, Ringwood, Pompton Lakes, Suffern, Sloatsburg,
Bloomingdale, Pomona, Spring Valley, Wyckoff, Stony Point, Oakland,
Wanaque, Franklin Lakes, Airmont, Upper Saddle River, Chestnut
Ridge, Hillcrest, New Square and Mount Ivy.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

MORNING FOR NORTHWESTERN BERGEN, CENTRAL PASSAIC AND ROCKLAND
COUNTIES...
At 245 AM EDT, Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional
heavy rainfall is expected. All northbound lanes of New Jersey State
Route 23 north of the Paterson Hamburg Turnpike in West Milford were
closed due to flash flooding, close to where the heaviest rain of up
to 2.5 inches occurred.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
