The National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Eastern Bandera County in south central Texas...
Central Medina County in south central Texas...
* Until 500 AM CDT.
* At 1241 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain
have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
producing flash flooding.
SOURCE...Radar.
IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Hondo, Bandera, New Fountain, Quihi, Hill Country State Natural
Area, Mico, Lakehills, DHanis, Bandera Falls, Pipe Creek,
Kronkosky State Natural Area, Government Canyon State Natural Area
and Lake Medina Shores.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.

MORNING FOR EASTERN BANDERA AND CENTRAL MEDINA COUNTIES...
At 339 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy
rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 6 inches of rain have
fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
flash flooding.
SOURCE...Radar.
IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Hondo, Bandera, New Fountain, Quihi, Hill Country State Natural
Area, Mico, Lakehills, DHanis, Bandera Falls, Pipe Creek,
Kronkosky State Natural Area, Government Canyon State Natural Area
and Lake Medina Shores.
Light to moderate rains continue to fall over the warned area, with
an additional 1/4 to 1/2 inch possible through 5 AM. This additional
rain could maintain elevated flows on area creeks and streams and
also further add to the flooding of poor drainage areas.
