The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
The Sacaton and Hummingbird burn scars in...
South Central Catron County in west central New Mexico...
* Until 630 PM MDT.
* At 330 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain over the Sacaton and Hummingbird burn scars. Up to 0.6
inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1
inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or
expected to begin shortly.
Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will impact Willow Creek and
Gilita Creek. This includes Willow Creek Road including the Ben Lilly
and Willow Creek Campgrounds and any other residences in this area.
Bursum Road near the Willow Creek Campground may also be impacted.
Middle Fork Trail number 157 and Iron Creek Trail number 172 will be
especially dangerous. The debris flow can consist of rock, mud,
vegetation and other loose materials.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
flash flooding in and around the Sacaton and Hummingbird
burn scars.

This is a life threatening situation. Heavy rainfall will cause
extensive and severe flash flooding of creeks, streams and ditches in
the Sacaton and Hummingbird burn scars. Severe debris flows can also
be anticipated across roads. Roads and driveways may be washed away
in places. If you encounter flood waters, climb to safety.

REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 630 PM MDT THIS EVENING FOR SOUTH CENTRAL
CATRON COUNTY...
At 400 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy
rain over the Sacaton and Hummingbird burn scars beginning to weaken.
Up to 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up
to 0.25 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding with
debris flow is likely ongoing.
Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will impact Willow Creek and
Gilita Creek. This includes Willow Creek Road including the Ben Lilly
and Willow Creek Campgrounds and any other residences in this area.

This is a life threatening situation. Heavy rainfall will cause
extensive and severe flash flooding of creeks, streams and ditches in
the Sacaton and Hummingbird burn scars. Severe debris flows can also
be anticipated across roads. Roads and driveways may be washed away
in places. If you encounter flood waters, climb to safety.
Do not camp along streams and rivers. Remain alert when hiking in
steep, narrow canyons. Know where you are relative to low spots and
drainages.

At 459 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicates the moderate to heavy
thunderstorms have diminished over the Sacaton and Hummingbird burn
scars. Between 0.25 and 1.50 inches of rain fell earlier this
afternoon. Only light additional rainfall is expected through 600 PM
MDT. Flash flooding is likely ongoing at this time.
Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will impact Willow Creek and
Gilita Creek. This includes Willow Creek Road including the Ben Lilly
and Willow Creek Campgrounds and any other residences in this area.
