The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Oregon County in south central Missouri...
* Until 300 AM CDT.
* At 1130 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain
have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible
in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Alton, Thomasville, Greer, Couch, Wilderness and Rover.
This includes the following low water crossings...
Warm Fork Spring River at County Road 323, Whites Creek at Highway
K, Frederick Creek at Highway A, Hurricane Creek at Highway U and
Piney Creek at County Road 228.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Many flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
