The National Weather Service in Tucson has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Central Cochise County in southeastern Arizona...
* Until 915 PM MST.
* At 619 PM MST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.9 and 1.5 inches of
rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Elfrida and McNeal.
This includes Route 191 between mile markers 18 and 37.
This includes the following Flash Flood Prone Locations...
Davis Rd between HWY 80 & HWY 191.
This includes the following streams and drainages...
Slavin Wash, Whitewater Draw, Ash Creek, Gadwell Canyon, Haberstock
Wash, Reeves Creek, Willow Wash, Henderson Wash, Walnut Gulch and
Clifford Wash.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain.
Washes, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
