The National Weather Service in Tucson has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Southeastern Cochise County in southeastern Arizona...
* Until 115 AM MST.
* At 1009 PM MST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between
0.8 and 1.8 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts
up to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is
ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Portal, Pearce-Sunsites, Elfrida, Sunizona, McNeal, Rucker Canyon
and Paradise.
This includes the following highways...
Route 80 between mile markers 395 and 415. Route 181 between mile
markers 39 and 56. Route 191 between mile markers 17 and 49.
This includes the following Flash Flood Prone Locations...
Davis Rd between HWY 80 & HWY 191 and Hwy 181 at Turkey Creek.
This includes the following streams and drainages...
Stanford Creek, East Turkey Creek, Turkey Creek, Leslie Creek,
Slavin Wash, Ash Creek, Mulberry Canyon, Onion Creek, Silver Creek,
Henderson Wash, Walnut Gulch, Witch Creek, Cave Creek, Big Bend
Creek, Pridham Creek, Pinery Creek, Clifford Wash, Rucker Canyon,
Whitewater Draw, Gadwell Canyon, Haberstock Wash, Reeves Creek,
Willow Wash and Fivemile Creek.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain.
Washes, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.

FOR SOUTHEASTERN COCHISE COUNTY...
At 1123 PM MST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between
0.8 and 1.8 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or
