Bernalillo County in central New Mexico... * Until 745 PM MDT. * At 438 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the northeastern Albuquerque metro area. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Northeastern Albuquerque, Sandia Heights and North Valley. This includes the following highways... Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 160 and 165. Interstate 25 between Mile Markers 228 and 235. This warning is primarily for the arroyos and diversion channels within the affected area due to the expected increase in rapidly flowing water.
