The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Northwestern San Miguel County in northeastern New Mexico...

* Until 800 PM MDT.

* At 459 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 
  heavy rain across the warned area, including southern portions of 
  the Hermits Peak-Calf Canyon wildfire burn scar. Between 0.75 and 
  2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 
  inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or 
  expected to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Las Vegas, Romeroville, Storrie Lake State Park, Tecolote, 
  Montezuma, El Porvenir, Ribera, Ojitos Frios, San Agustin and Los 
  Montoyas.

This includes the following highways...
State Road 518 between Mile Markers 1 and 11.
State Road 283 between Mile Markers 1 and 12...and
near Mile Marker 14.
Interstate 25 between Mile Markers 320 and 359.
State Road 266 between Mile Markers 1 and 6.
State Road 65 between Mile Markers 1 and 14.
State Road 104 between Mile Markers 1 and 17.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Runoff from rainfall will cause elevated water levels within 
vulnerable drainages in and downstream of the Hermits Peak-Calf 
Canyon wildfire burn area.

Light rain will continue over the area and flows of water in arroyos 
as well as ponding of water in low spots may persist, but the heavy 
rain has ended. Flash flooding is no longer expected to pose a 
threat. Please continue to heed any remaining road closures.
