The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  The Tecolote Creek within and below the Hermits Peak Calf Canyon 
  Burn Scar in...
  West Central San Miguel County in northeastern New Mexico...

* Until 500 PM MDT.

* At 208 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 
  heavy rain over Tecolote Creek within and below the Hermits Peak 
  Calf Canyon Burn Scar. One to 3 inches of rain fell, so far.  The 
  storm producing the heavy rain is expected to drift slowly 
  southeastward along the drainage basin. Additional rainfall 
  amounts up to 1.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash 
  flooding is likely ongoing, and is expected to spread as far south 
  as I-25.

Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will impact Tecolote Creek. 
The debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose 
materials.

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
           producing flash flooding in and around the Tecolote
           Creek within and below the Hermits Peak Calf Canyon
           Burn Scar.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of areas in and around
           the Tecolote Creek within and below the Hermits Peak
           Calf Canyon Burn Scar.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Tecolote, San Pablo, San Geronimo, Mineral Hill and Ojitos Frios.

This includes the following highways...
State Road 283 between Mile Markers 8 and 12...and
near Mile Marker 14.
Interstate 25 between Mile Markers 335 and 337.

San Pablo Creek will also experience flash flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

This is a life threatening situation. Heavy rainfall will cause 
extensive and severe flash flooding of creeks, streams and ditches 
in the Tecolote Creek within and below the Hermits Peak Calf Canyon 
Burn Scar. Severe debris flows can also be anticipated across roads. 
Roads and driveways may be washed away in places. If you encounter 
flood waters, climb to safety.

Do not camp along streams and rivers. Remain alert when hiking in 
steep, narrow canyons. Know where you are relative to low spots and 
drainages.

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR THE TECOLOTE CREEK WITHIN AND BELOW THE 
HERMITS PEAK CALF CANYON BURN SCAR REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM MDT 
THIS AFTERNOON FOR WEST CENTRAL SAN MIGUEL COUNTY...

At 323 PM MDT, Although rainfall has decreased in intensity, earlier 
thunderstorms produced heavy rain over the Tecolote Creek within and 
below the Hermits Peak Calf Canyon Burn Scar. Up to 1 inch of rain 
has fallen within the warned area with even higher amounts upstream, 
which will continue to create excessive runoff and an increased risk 
for flash flooding.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
         flash flooding in and around the Tecolote Creek within
         and below the Hermits Peak Calf Canyon Burn Scar.

         the Tecolote Creek within and below the Hermits Peak
         Calf Canyon Burn Scar.
