The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Northeastern Harding County in northeastern New Mexico...
  Northeastern San Miguel County in northeastern New Mexico...
  Central Union County in northeastern New Mexico...

* Until 745 PM MDT.

* At 441 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 
  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2.5 inches of 
  rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.75 to 1.5 
  inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing 
  or expected to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Mosquero and Bueyeros.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

In hilly or mountainous terrain there are numerous low water 
crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not 
attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 745 PM MDT THIS 
EVENING FOR NORTHEASTERN HARDING, NORTHEASTERN SAN MIGUEL AND 
CENTRAL UNION COUNTIES...

At 628 PM MDT, although rainfall has decreased in intensity, earlier 
thunderstorms produced heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 
and 2.75 inches of rain have fallen, and areas of excessive runoff 
and ponding of water will persist. Additional rainfall amounts up to 
0.25 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is 
ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

NORTHEASTERN HARDING, NORTHEASTERN SAN MIGUEL AND CENTRAL UNION 
COUNTIES...

Light rain will continue over the area and flows of water in arroyos 
as well as ponding of water in low spots may persist, but the 
thunderstorms with heavy rain have moved out of the area. Please 
continue to heed any remaining road closures.

A Flood Watch remains in effect until 900 PM MDT for portions of 
east central, north central, and northeast New Mexico.
