The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Western San Miguel County in northeastern New Mexico...

* Until 945 PM MDT.

* At 646 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 
  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain 
  have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are 
  possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected 
  to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
           producing flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
           urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Upper Colonias and Lower Colonias. This includes a portion of the 
  Hermits Peak Calf Canyon Burn Scar.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Runoff from rainfall will cause elevated water levels within 
vulnerable drainages in and downstream of the Hermits Peak Calf 
Canyon Burn Scar.

EVENING FOR WESTERN SAN MIGUEL COUNTY...

At 751 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy 
rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2.5 inches of rain have 
fallen. Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall 
is expected. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
         flash flooding.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
         urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Upper Colonias and Lower Colonias. This includes a portion of the 
  Hermits Peak Calf Canyon Burn Scar.

Rainfall runoff will flow into Bull and Cow Creek, as well as into 
Tecolote Creek.

WESTERN SAN MIGUEL COUNTY...

Flood waters have receded. Light rain will continue over the area 
and flows of water in arroyos as well as ponding of water in low 
spots may persist. Flash flooding is no longer expected to pose a 
threat. Please continue to heed any remaining road closures.

A Flood Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM MDT for portions of 
north central and northeast New Mexico.
