The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  South Central Socorro County in central New Mexico...

* Until 1215 AM MDT.

* At 920 PM MDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated 
  thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to 2 
  inches of rain have fallen east of San Antonio along U.S. Highway 
  380. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in 
  the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin 
  shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  San Antonio, Laborcita and Luis Lopez.

This includes the following highways...
Highway 380 between Mile Markers 1 and 18.
Interstate 25 between Mile Markers 134 and 144.

This includes the following streams and drainages...
  Walnut Creek, Caņas, Arroyo de la and Salt Creek.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Both localized and distant heavy rainfall will create sudden and 
dangerous flows in arroyos and over low water crossings.

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1215 AM MDT TUESDAY 
FOR SOUTH CENTRAL SOCORRO COUNTY...

At 1005 PM MDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated 
thunderstorms producing heavy rain across southeast Socorro County. 
Between 1 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall 
amounts of 0.25 to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash 
flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
