The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Southwestern Isle of Wight County in southeastern Virginia...
  The City of Franklin in southeastern Virginia...
  The City of Suffolk in southeastern Virginia...

* Until 1100 PM EDT.

* At 801 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 
  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 2 inches of 
  rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 0.5 to 1 inch in 
  30 minutes. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Franklin, Windsor, Holland, Downtown Suffolk, Suffolk, Kings Fork, 
  Whaleyville, Carrsville, Zuni, Lummis, Boaz, Kilby, Suffolk 
  Airport, Nurney, Indika, Elwood, Collosse, Saunders, Walters and 
  Magnolia.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding. Do not stay in areas subject to flooding when 
water begins rising.
