URGENT - FIRE WEATHER MESSAGE
National Weather Service Denver/Boulder CO
244 PM MST Thu Dec 18 2025

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS FRIDAY...

Critical fire weather conditions over the northeast plains will
gradually ease into this evening.

Strong winds will redevelop in the foothills overnight, with high
winds spreading slowly east across the nearby adjacent plains west
of I-25 through the afternoon. Extremely high wind gusts of 85-100
mph combined with humidities dropping into the 10-20 percent
range will create potential for fast moving wildfires, should any
new starts occur. Winds toward I-25 and eastward will be slower to
develop, and also speeds will be considerably lighter. That said,
gusts of 25-40 mph are still expected to combine with very low
humidity and cured grasses to support critical fire weather
conditions. Areas farther east into eastern Adams, Arapahoe,
Elbert, and Lincoln counties have more uncertainty if those winds
even develop, so those locations remain under a Fire Weather
Watch.

Such conditions may be a longer duration than usual, with
potential for low humidity to extend well into the evening hours.

URGENT - FIRE WEATHER MESSAGE
National Weather Service Denver/Boulder CO
508 PM MST Thu Dec 18 2025

...THIS IS A PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR IN AND IMMEDIATELY
ADJACENT TO THE FOOTHILLS, BETWEEN 5500 AND 9000 FEET, FOR BOULDER
AND JEFFERSON COUNTIES ON FRIDAY...

Strong west winds, sustained 45-55 mph with gusts upwards of 85-105
mph, are expected in the foothills of Boulder and Jefferson Counties
beginning early Friday morning. Relative humidity values are
expected to drop into the low teens, possibly upper single digits.
While Red Flag conditions, critical fire weather, are expected
across a larger area in northern Colorado, the most extreme
conditions are expected to be along Highway 93 from Jefferson County
into Boulder County and along US-36 north of Boulder to the Larimer
County line and westward. There will be a high potential for fast
moving wildfires, should any new starts occur.

Winds toward I-25 and eastward will be slower to develop, and also
speeds will be considerably lighter. That said, gusts of 25-40 mph
are still expected to combine with very low humidity and cured
grasses to support critical fire weather conditions. Areas farther
east into eastern Adams, Arapahoe, Elbert, and Lincoln counties have
more uncertainty if those winds even develop, so those locations
remain under a Fire Weather Watch.

Such conditions may be a longer duration than usual, with potential
for low humidity to extend well into the evening hours.

Such conditions may be a longer duration than usual, with potential
for low humidity to extend well into the evening hours.

...THIS IS A PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR IN AND
IMMEDIATELY ADJACENT TO THE FOOTHILLS, BETWEEN 5500 AND

Strong west winds, sustained 45-55 mph with gusts upwards of 85-
105 mph, are expected in the foothills of Larimer, Boulder and
Jefferson Counties beginning early Friday morning. Relative
humidity values are expected to drop into the low teens, possibly

weather, are expected across a larger area in northern Colorado,
the most extreme conditions are expected to be along Highway 93
from Jefferson County into Boulder County and along US-36 north of
Boulder to the Larimer County line and westward. There will be a
high potential for fast moving wildfires, should any new starts
occur.

Winds toward I-25 and eastward will be slower to develop, and

40 mph are still expected to combine with very low humidity and
cured grasses to support critical fire weather conditions.

Such conditions may be a longer duration than usual, with

URGENT - FIRE WEATHER MESSAGE

357 PM MST Fri Dec 19 2025

...THIS IS A PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR IN AND
IMMEDIATELY ADJACENT TO THE FOOTHILLS, BETWEEN 5500 AND
9000 FEET, FOR BOULDER AND JEFFERSON COUNTIES ON FRIDAY...

Strong west winds of 30-40 mph with gusts as high as 85 mph in the
foothills of Boulder and northern Jefferson Counties will continue
until early evening. Relative humidity values had dropped into
the upper single digits and lower teens. Thus, the Particularly
Dangerous Situation will remain in place til around 5-6 pm, with
only a slow improvement thereafter as winds slowly weaken. Red
Flag conditions, however, will persist through the rest of the
evening as we remain in a near record warm, dry, and windy airmass
along the Front Range through midnight. In fact, strong, gusty
winds will persist through much of the night with only a slow
improvement in humidity values. Thus, near critical Red Flag
conditions will occur into early Saturday morning.

While most of the Denver metro area has seen lighter winds
prevail most of the day, a period of strong, gusty winds is
expected to develop this evening and likely last past midnight,
producing Red Flag conditions there.

...THIS IS A PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR IN AND
IMMEDIATELY ADJACENT TO THE FOOTHILLS, BETWEEN 5500 AND
9000 FEET, FOR BOULDER AND JEFFERSON COUNTIES ON FRIDAY...
