Heat index values may reach 105 at a few locations in the southern Red River Valley. * WHERE...In Minnesota, Wadena, Clay, East Otter Tail, Grant, West Otter Tail, and Wilkin Counties. In North Dakota, Cass, Ransom, Richland, and Sargent Counties. * WHEN...For the first Heat Advisory, until 8 PM CDT this evening. For the second Heat Advisory, from noon to 8 PM CDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Light wind and ample sunshine amid hot temperatures and high humidity will contribute to heat related impacts. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
