* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
Apache County in northeastern Arizona...
* Until 300 PM MDT.
* At 229 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Mummy Cave
Overlook, or 14 miles east of Chinle, moving northeast at 40 mph
towards Tsaile.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind
damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
* Locations impacted include...
Sehili, Mummy Cave Overlook, Buffalo Pass, Canyon De Chelly
National Monument, Roof Butte, Del Muerto, Tsaile, Totshoh,
Lukachukai and Big Lake.
This includes the following recreation areas and campgrounds...
Wagon Wheel Campground and Antelope House Overlook.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from
windows. This storm is capable of producing damaging winds and large
hail.
Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning is one of natures leading killers. Remember, if you can
hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
