Western Richland County in central South Carolina...
West central Kershaw County in central South Carolina...
* Until 215 PM EDT.
* At 128 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near St. Andrews,
moving north at 15 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts, penny size hail and prolific cloud to
ground lightning strikes.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Expect damage to trees and powerlines.
* Locations impacted include...
Columbia, Lexington, West Columbia, Cayce, Irmo, Forest Acres,
Winnsboro, Springdale, St. Andrews, VC Summer Nuclear Station,
Dentsville, Oak Grove, Highway 6 at Lake Murray Dam, Red Bank,
South Congaree, Pine Ridge, Arcadia Lakes, Columbia International
University, Jenkinsville, and Harbison State Forest.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 126 between mile markers 0 and 3.
Interstate 20 in South Carolina between mile markers 49 and 81.
Interstate 26 between mile markers 90 and 120.
Interstate 77 between mile markers 0 and 36.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.
Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of natures leading
killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to
be struck by lightning.
Severe thunderstorms can produce large capsizing waves and frequent
lightning. If on or near Lake Murray move away from the water and
take shelter!

CENTRAL KERSHAW COUNTIES WILL EXPIRE AT 215 PM EDT...
The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe
limits, and no longer poses an immediate threat to life or property.
Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire. However, gusty
winds and heavy rain are still possible with this thunderstorm.
To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement
agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service
Columbia.
