The National Weather Service in Goodland has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Rawlins County in northwestern Kansas...
  Decatur County in northwestern Kansas...

* Until 630 PM CDT.

* At 525 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
  extending from 7 miles southeast of Herndon to 7 miles southeast of
  Ludell to 9 miles northwest of Atwood, moving southeast at 15 mph.

  HAZARD...Tennis ball size hail and 70 mph wind gusts.

  SOURCE...1.75 inch hail in Ludell and wind damage to buildings 
           north of Atwood.

  IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail 
           damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect 
           considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to 
           mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

* Severe thunderstorms will be near...
  Atwood and Ludell around 530 PM CDT.
  Oberlin around 545 PM CDT.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

These thunderstorms will produce strong winds resulting in areas of
near zero visibility in blowing dirt. Use extreme caution if you must
travel and be alert for rapidly changing visibility.

Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning
are occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately. Lightning
is one of natures leading killers. Remember, if you can hear
thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM CDT for northwestern
Kansas.

...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 630 PM CDT
FOR RAWLINS AND DECATUR COUNTIES...

At 531 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 6 miles west of Oberlin to 8 miles southeast of Ludell
to 8 miles northwest of Atwood, moving east at 15 mph.

THESE ARE DESTRUCTIVE STORMS FOR Southern Rawlins county.

HAZARD...90 mph wind gusts and tennis ball size hail.

SOURCE...Trained weather spotters recorded 90 MPH winds south of 
         Atwood.

IMPACT...You are in a life-threatening situation. Flying debris may 
         be deadly to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes 
         will be heavily damaged or destroyed. Homes and businesses 
         will have substantial roof and window damage. Expect 
         extensive tree damage and power outages.

These severe storms will be near...
  Atwood and Ludell around 535 PM CDT.
  Oberlin around 600 PM CDT.

Other locations impacted by these severe thunderstorms include
Blakeman, Beardsley, Kanona, and Traer.

Kansas.

At 611 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 8 miles north of Selden to 8 miles north of Rexford to
6 miles south of Atwood, moving southeast at 25 mph.

HAZARD...Golf ball size hail and 70 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail 
         damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect 
         considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to 
         mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

These severe thunderstorms will remain over mainly rural areas of
southern Rawlins and southwestern Decatur Counties.
