The National Weather Service in Dodge City has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Northern Scott County in west central Kansas...

* Until 745 PM CDT.

* At 701 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 9 miles northwest
  of Scott State Lake, moving southeast at 40 mph.

  THIS IS A DESTRUCTIVE STORM FOR NORTHERN SCOTT COUNTY.

  HAZARD...80 mph wind gusts and two inch hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without 
           shelter. Mobile homes will be heavily damaged. Expect 
           considerable damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles. 
           Extensive tree damage and power outages are likely.

* This severe thunderstorm will be near...
  Scott State Lake around 715 PM CDT.

Other locations in the path of this severe thunderstorm include Scott
City.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

This is a dangerous storm. Prepare immediately for large destructive 
hail capable of producing significant damage. People outside should 
move to shelter inside a strong building, and stay away from windows.

This is an EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION with tornado like wind
speeds expected. Mobile homes and high profile vehicles are
especially susceptible to winds of this magnitude and may be
overturned. For your protection move to an interior room on the
lowest floor of a building. This storm has the potential to cause
serious injury and significant property damage.

...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 745 PM CDT
FOR NORTHERN SCOTT COUNTY...

At 723 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Scott State
Lake, moving southeast at 35 mph.

HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and ping pong ball size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail 
         damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect 
         considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to 
         mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

This severe thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of
northern Scott County.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside
should move to a shelter, inside a strong building and away from
windows.

Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of natures leading
killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to
be struck by lightning.
