The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Southern Cowley County in south central Kansas...

* Until 215 PM CDT.

* At 149 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Hardy, or 11
  miles east of Arkansas City, moving east at 45 mph.

  HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to 
           mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

* Locations impacted include...
  Arkansas City, Dexter, Maple City, and Strother Field Airport.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

FOR SOUTHERN COWLEY COUNTY...

At 202 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 6 miles northeast of
Hardy, or 13 miles west of Cedar Vale, moving east at 30 mph.

HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile
