The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a

* Tornado Warning for...
  Effingham County in south central Illinois...

* Until 645 PM CDT.

* At 613 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms capable of producing both
  tornadoes and extensive straight line wind damage were located near
  Watson, or 7 miles southwest of Effingham, moving northeast at 70
  mph.

  HAZARD...Tornado and quarter size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

  IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without 
           shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. 
           Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree 
           damage is likely.

* These dangerous storms will be near...
  Effingham, Heartville, and Teutopolis around 620 PM CDT.
  Montrose and Dieterich around 625 PM CDT.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 57 between mile markers 144 and 168.
 Interstate 70 between mile markers 82 and 104.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a
mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter
and protect yourself from flying debris.

...A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 645 PM CDT FOR
NORTHEASTERN EFFINGHAM COUNTY...

At 628 PM CDT, a severe squall line capable of producing both
tornadoes and extensive straight line wind damage was located near
Montrose, or 8 miles southwest of Toledo, moving northeast at 70 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without 
         shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage 
         to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree damage is 
         likely.

This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of
northeastern Effingham County.

This includes Interstate 70 between mile markers 100 and 104.

...THE TORNADO WARNING FOR NORTHEASTERN EFFINGHAM COUNTY WILL EXPIRE
AT 645 PM CDT...

The tornado threat has diminished and the Tornado Warning has been
cancelled. However, large hail and damaging winds remain likely and a
Severe Thunderstorm Warning remains in effect for the area.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM CDT for south central
and southeastern Illinois.
