...SPRING STORM TO BRING PERIODS OF HEAVY SNOW TO WESTERN AND 
CENTRAL MINNESOTA AND NORTHWEST WISCONSIN...

.A band of heavy snow will spread across across Minnesota and 
western Wisconsin this afternoon and evening, with heavy snow 
lingering into Wednesday morning across central Minnesota. In 
addition, late tonight into Wednesday morning, sleet and freezing 
rain may mix in with the snow at times over central Minnesota.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from Douglas over to Kanabec 
county today through Wednesday morning. Snow is expected to last the 
longest in these counties, resulting in snowfall totals of 5 to 7 
inches, with some locally higher amounts possible in Douglas and 
Todd counties.

In Minnesota, there is a Winter Weather Advisory through tonight 
from Yellow Medicine up to Stearns and over to Chisago county. The 
Advisory counties across Polk, Barron, Rusk, and Chippewa counties 
in Wisconsin. Snowfall totals of 2 to 4 inches are expected within 
the Advisory, with some amounts closer to 6 inches possible in 
northern portions for Pope, Stearns, Benton, and Isanti counties.

...PHASE TWO OF OUR STORM TODAY...

.Phase two of the spring storm that brought widespread rain and snow 
to the area yesterday will commence today as the main body of the 
system moves through. Areas along the west and northern sides of the 
system will see renewed strength in snowfall potential favoring 
western and central Minnesota. Temperatures will be warming 
throughout the day such that rain is expected to mix in where 
temperatures are warmer, especially southern to eastern Minnesota 
and western Wisconsin.

There is also potential for minor ice accumulations from sunrise 
through midday in western Minnesota as mid level warmer air 
continues to wrap around the system.

The Winter Storm Warning was expanded to include Stevens & Pope 
counties in addition to Douglas, Todd, and Morrison counties due to 
the greatest potential for seeing additional snowfall exceeding 4-6 
inches.

The Winter Weather Advisory was expanded to include Mille Lacs, 
Kanabec, Swift, Lac Qui Parle, Yellow Medicine, Kandiyohi, Benton, 
and Stearns counties as there will be a sharp cutoff in snow totals 
south of where the heaviest snowfall sets up. There is also

...PHASE TWO OF OUR STORM TODAY...

.Phase two of the spring storm that brought widespread rain and snow 
to the area yesterday will commence today as the main body of the 
system moves through. Areas along the west and northern sides of the 
system will see renewed strength in snowfall potential favoring 
western and central Minnesota. Temperatures will be warming 
throughout the day such that rain is expected to mix in where 
temperatures are warmer, especially southern to eastern Minnesota 
and western Wisconsin.

There is also potential for minor ice accumulations from sunrise 
through midday in western Minnesota as mid level warmer air 
continues to wrap around the system.

The Winter Storm Warning was expanded to include Stevens & Pope 
counties in addition to Douglas, Todd, and Morrison counties due to 
the greatest potential for seeing additional snowfall exceeding 4-6 
inches.

The Winter Weather Advisory was expanded to include Mille Lacs, 
Kanabec, Swift, Lac Qui Parle, Yellow Medicine, Kandiyohi, Benton, 
and Stearns counties as there will be a sharp cutoff in snow totals 
south of where the heaviest snowfall sets up. There is also 
potential for minor ice accumulations up to a glaze.

.The main body of the system from yesterday is moving through 
southern Minnesota this afternoon. Areas along the west and northern 
sides of the system will see renewed strength in snowfall potential 
favoring western and central Minnesota. Rain is expected to mix in 
where temperatures are warmer, especially southern to eastern 
Minnesota and western Wisconsin. This combination of rain, snow, and 
sleet is creating hazardous travel as a wet slush accumulated on the 
roads.

There is also potential for minor ice accumulations from sunrise 
through midday in western Minnesota as mid level warmer air 
continues to wrap around the system.
