The National Weather Service in Goodland has issued a

* Dust Storm Warning for...
  East central Kit Carson County in east central Colorado...
  Southwestern Thomas County in northwestern Kansas...
  Sherman County in northwestern Kansas...

* Until 645 PM MDT/745 PM CDT/.

* At 608 PM MDT/708 PM CDT/, a wall of dust was along a line
  extending from 6 miles southeast of Burlington to 10 miles south of
  Goodland to 12 miles northwest of Winona to 9 miles south of
  Monument, moving northeast at 50 mph.

  HAZARD...Less than a quarter mile visibility with damaging wind in 
           excess of 70 mph.

  SOURCE...Trained weather spotters reported less than 1/4 mile 
           visibility in blowing dust ahead of thunderstorms.

  IMPACT...Dangerous life-threatening travel.

* 

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 70 in Kansas between mile markers 0 and 69.
 Interstate 70 in Colorado between mile markers 439 and 450.

Locations impacted include...
Colby, Goodland, Burlington, Brewster, Kanorado, Ruleton, and Levant.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should not drive into a dust storm. PULL ASIDE STAY ALIVE!

To report severe weather, contact the National Weather Service, or
your nearest law enforcement agency, who will relay your report to
the National Weather Service office in Goodland.

Strong to severe thunderstorms are also possible behind this wall of
dust. Keep updated with this quickly evolving situation.
