The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Southwestern Mora County in northeastern New Mexico...
* Until 730 PM MDT.
* At 427 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 5.5 inches of rain
have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.75 inches are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring.
FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for Mora, Monte Aplanado, Canon and Ledoux as
well as the Rito Cebolla. This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS
SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW!
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
flash flooding.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER
GROUND NOW! Life threatening flash flooding of low water
crossings, small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Mora, Ledoux, Morphy Lake State Park, Monte Aplanado and
Golondrinas.
This includes State Road 518 between Mile Markers 19 and 21...and
near Mile Marker 29.
This includes the following recreation areas...
Morphy Lake State Park.
Flash flooding is expected in the Rito Cebolla. Stay away from river
banks.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Move to higher ground now! This is an extremely dangerous and
life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are
fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.
In hilly or mountainous terrain there are numerous low water
crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not
attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 730 PM MDT THIS
EVENING FOR SOUTHWESTERN MORA COUNTY...
At 554 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy
rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 6 inches of rain have
fallen. A report of 5.89 inches of rain has been recorded at the JTH
Forestry Center in Mora. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.25
inches are possible in the warned area. Significant flash flooding is
already occurring in Monte Aplanado and Mora. Highway 94 is also
flooded and impassible south of Mora.

SOUTHWESTERN MORA COUNTY...
Thunderstorms with heavy rain have ended. Flash flooding is no longer
expected to pose a threat, however impacts from earlier flash
flooding are likely ongoing. Please continue to heed any remaining
road closures.
A Flood Watch remains in effect until 600 AM MDT Thursday for
portions of central, east central, north central, northeast,
northwest, southeast, and west central New Mexico.
