The Flood Watch for Friday morning has expired. A new Flood Watch is
in effect for Friday afternoon and early Saturday morning.

TONIGHT...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
* WHERE...Sacramento Mountains in northeast Otero County, including
Ruidoso, Cloudcroft, Mescalero, and Mayhill.
* WHEN...From 2 PM MDT this afternoon through late tonight.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- 48-hour rainfall observations shows a wide swath of 0.75-1.50"
across the US-70 corridor over the Sacramento Mountains. High
soil moisture will allow runoff to occur quickly with any
additional rounds of rain. Additional scattered showers and
thunderstorms are expected to develop over portions of Otero
County this evening and overnight, leading to localized flash
flooding. Areas that have already received excessive rainfall and
flooding recently such as Whitetail, Apache Summit, and Tularosa
Creek will be at highest risk.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
to take action should flooding develop.

The Flood Watch has expired for portions of south central and
southwest New Mexico, including the following areas, in south central
New Mexico, Northern Dona Ana County, Sierra County Lakes and
Southern Dona Ana County/Mesilla Valley. In southwest New Mexico,
Central Grant County/Silver City Area, Eastern Black Range Foothills,
Southern Gila Foothills/Mimbres Valley, Southern Gila Region
Highlands/Black Range and Southwest Desert/Mimbres Basin.
The flooding threat has decreased. Therefore, the Flood Watch has
expired. Scattered thunderstorms will still be possible this evening,
with localized flooding possible.
