...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 445 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...A portion of northeast Illinois, including the following
counties, Cook and Will.
* WHEN...Until 445 PM CDT.
* IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding
may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Underpasses may be
flooded. Roads and streets may be flooded.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1144 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
indicated heavy rainfall with rates up to 1 inch per hour
moving through areas with elevated soil moisture due to
earlier heavy rainfall. Up to 2 inches of rain have fallen.
In addition, multiple stream gauges indicate water levels
nearing bankfull in the southern Chicago metro area.
- Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch may occur in some
areas. Minor flood will begin shortly or may already be
occurring.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Chicago, Joliet, Cicero, Hammond, Orland Park, Tinley Park,
Oak Lawn, Romeoville, Plainfield, Calumet City, Chicago
Heights, Midway Airport, Roseland, Chicago Lawn, Englewood,
South Lawndale, South Shore, Bridgeport, West Town and
Chicago Loop.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Flood Advisory means minor flooding along waterways and other poor
drainage areas is imminent or may already be occurring. Persons in
the advisory area should use caution and avoid flood waters.

* IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding
may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Underpasses may be
flooded. Roads and streets may be flooded.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1224 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated that heavy rainfall
had moved out of the area with only light shower activity
ongoing. Minor flooding will likely continue for the next few
hours. Up to 2 inches of rainfall occurred due to earlier
shower and storm activity.
- Additional shower and thunderstorm activity remains possible
into the afternoon.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Chicago, Joliet, Cicero, Hammond, Orland Park, Tinley Park,
Oak Lawn, Romeoville, Plainfield, Calumet City, Chicago
