...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 1045 AM CDT THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive 
  rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of east central Kansas, including the following 
  counties, Coffey, Lyon and Osage.

* WHEN...Until 1045 AM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. 
  Rises in small streams. Overflowing poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 736 AM CDT, emergency management reported heavy rain in
    the advisory area causing ponding of water on roadways in
    Emporia and other poor draining areas in Lyon County. This is
    causing urban and small stream flooding. Between 1 and 2.5
    inches of rain have fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are expected
    over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
    flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Emporia, Lebo, Olpe, New Strawn, Hartford, Neosho Rapids,
    Reading, Olivet, John Redmond Reservoir, Melvern Lake and
    Beto Junction.
  - This includes the following highways...
    Kansas Turnpike between mile markers 117 and 133.
    Interstate 35 between mile markers 128 and 158.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

The Flood Advisory is cancelled for a portion of east central 
Kansas, including the following areas, Coffey, Lyon and Osage.

A Flash Flood Warning remains in effect for Lyon County through 2:15 
PM this afternoon. Flooding remains possible across the area and 
additional rainfall through the afternoon could lead to additional 
flooding.
