...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 330 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive 
  rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of east central and northeast Kansas, including 
  the following counties, in east central Kansas, Douglas and 
  Franklin. In northeast Kansas, Jefferson.

* WHEN...Until 330 PM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. 
  Rises in small streams. Overflowing poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 1243 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
    indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause
    urban and small stream flooding. Between 0.5 and 2 inches of
    rain have fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are expected
    over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
    flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Lawrence, Ottawa, Baldwin City, Oskaloosa, Eudora,
    Wellsville, Centropolis, Perry, McLouth, Pomona, Lecompton,
    Clinton, Richmond, Williamsburg, Lone Star, Princeton, Lane,
    Rantoul, Pleasant Grove and Globe.
  - This includes the following highways...
    Kansas Turnpike between mile markers 189 and 205.
    Interstate 35 between mile markers 168 and 198.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

The Flood Advisory will expire at 330 PM CDT this afternoon for 
portions of east central and northeast Kansas, including the 
following areas, in east central Kansas, Douglas and Franklin. In 
northeast Kansas, Jefferson.

The heavy rain has ended. Flooding of low-lying and flood prone 
areas is still possible. Please continue to heed remaining road 
closures.
