...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 315 AM CDT EARLY THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, including the following 
  county, Alexander and southeast Missouri, including the following 
  county, Scott.

* WHEN...Until 315 AM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. 

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 1203 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
    shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of
    rain have fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected
    over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
    flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Sikeston, Scott City, Chaffee, Cairo, Oran, Miner, Benton,
    Morley, Tamms, Kelso, Olive Branch, Horseshoe Lake
    Conservation Area, Hay-Wood City, Cape Girardeau Airport,
    Thebes, Vanduser, Blodgett, Diehlstadt, Commerce and Lambert.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.
