...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 530 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...In Minnesota, Cook County.

* WHEN...Until 530 PM CDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. 

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 129 PM CDT Wednesday, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain
    due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected
    to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 3 inches
    of rain have fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are expected over
    the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Grand Marais, Grand Portage, Lutsen, Eagle Mountain, Boundary
    Waters Canoe Area Wilderness North of the Gunflint Trail,
    Cascade River State Park, Judge Magney State Park, Judge C.
    R. Magney State Park, Hovland, Grand Portage State Park,
    southeastern Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, Pine
    Lake, Devil Track Lake, Two Island Lake, Bearskin Lake,
    Daniels Lake, Clearwater Lake, Poplar Lake and Greenwood
    Lake.
  - Flood safety information can be found at
    www.weather.gov/safety/flood.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Campers and hikers should avoid flooded trail crossings. If camping 
at a site along or near the banks of rivers or streams, move away 
from those locations and seek higher ground. Trails in hilly terrain 
can quickly become unstable during or shortly after heavy rainfall.

Portage and hiking trails may be impassable and low-lying campsites 
may be inundated with excessive runoff in this section of the 
Boundary Waters as flooding is occurring or imminent.
