...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM EDT THIS MORNING...
* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall are expected.
* WHERE...Portions of east central and southeast Kentucky, including
the following counties, in east central Kentucky, Estill. In
southeast Kentucky, Breathitt, Jackson, Lee and Owsley.
* WHEN...Until 1100 AM EDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Dangerous flows over low-water crossings. Overflowing poor
drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is
occurring or is imminent.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 757 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream
flooding. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Jackson, Beattyville, Heidelberg, Caryton, Yellow Rock,
Cressmont, Belle Point, Ida May, Willow Shoals, White Ash,
Proctor, Corgleton, Lower Buffalo, Maloney, Enoch, Leighton,
Old Orchard, St. Helens, Grass and Airedale.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
