...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM EDT THIS MORNING...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Portions of southwest and west central Virginia, including
the following counties, in southwest Virginia, Floyd. In west
central Virginia, Franklin.
* WHEN...Until 700 AM EDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Water over roadways.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 349 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain
have fallen.
- This includes the following streams and drainages...
Meadow Creek, Pigg River, Little River, Lick Fork, Brush
Creek, Beaverdam Creek, Boothe Creek, Hatchet Creek, Otter
Creek and Meadow Run.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding,
including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather

...FLOOD ADVISORY HAS EXPIRED...
The Flood Advisory has expired for portions of southwest and west
central Virginia, including the following areas, in southwest
Virginia, Floyd. In west central Virginia, Franklin.
The heavy rain has ended.
Between 1.0 to 2.5 inches of rain fell over parts of eastern Floyd
and western Franklin counties this morning. This may continue to
result in standing water or poor drainage flooding.
Since no additional rain is expected, the advisory has been allowed
to expire. Please continue to heed and road closures if there is any
high water observed.
