* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Northeastern Lake IN County in northwestern Indiana...
Northwestern Porter County in northwestern Indiana...
* WHEN...Until 915 PM CDT.
* IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding
may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Underpasses may be
flooded. Roads and streets may be flooded.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 712 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or
expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Webcams from the
Indiana Department of Transportation show stretches of I-94
across northern Porter County with standing water along the
shoulders. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen.
- Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is
expected.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Portage, Chesterton, Porter, Burns Harbor, Ogden Dunes and Dune
Acres.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Flood Advisory means minor flooding along waterways and other poor
drainage areas is imminent or may already be occurring. Persons in
the advisory area should use caution and avoid flood waters.
Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

The Flood Advisory will expire at 915 PM CDT this evening for a
portion of northwest Indiana, including the following areas, Lake IN
and Porter.
Flood waters have receded. The heavy rain has ended. Flooding is no
longer expected to pose a threat. Please continue to heed remaining
road closures.
A Flood Watch remains in effect until 700 AM CDT Monday for portions
of Illinois and northwest Indiana...
